Research Group Overview

TBG Research Group was established to leverage the deep relationships we have formed with leading MSPs since 2001. Our objective is to share the best practices, and top solutions identified by our peer-group members with the broader MSP community. We target providing information that will give an MSP a good starting point for discussion for either a new tool or a tool for migration. We hope that TBG Research becomes a resource upon which all MSPs can rely for insights on the best tools and technologies available in the market to optimize their businesses.


About the Research Team

Our group of coaches and researchers is comprised of a broad spectrum of experience, including business owners in the MSP and Copier Dealer space, a former COO with a range of experience coving the major PSA tool providers, RMM providers and at least one vendor in all the toolset areas. We have experience in Business Intelligence, capable of bringing an understanding of how to mine your data to get meaningful information. We have expertise is helping MSP owners, who mainly came from a technical background, create a Sales Engine that allows the MSP to break through the growth barrier that most companies will experience. Finally, we have the expertise to help our clients hire transformational talent. Our research team has over 90 years of experience in the IT Services market.


Why Taylor Business Group and Why Now?

The rate of change continues to increase in the IT Service Provider space. What was the right choice for an owner two years ago may now be a solution that doesn’t exist. Our members look to us to help them navigate this rapidly changing landscape. What we are seeing is that a company needs to rethink who they are and what their offering is every 18-24 months. But a proper analysis takes time, which they don’t have while running their business. Our research will help them move quickly and to stay ahead of the curve. It is all about staying relevant.


Methodology

Our research always starts with an objective approach to preserve integrity. Our inaugural research report involves a comparison of PSA tools. We looked at which PSA solutions our peer-group members most often use in their businesses, and we found that nearly 95% used at least one or a combination of the three vendors that are the focus of this report. We then solicited input from these members regarding the performance of each PSA platform on a variety of variables. We centered the analysis on areas in which we found significant differentiators between the three solutions. For example, the presence of a cloud-based offering was not considered as all three products deliver this equally. Instead, we chose to look at the toolset that is used most frequently and is most relevant to day-to-day use.


Research Report Schedule / Future Reports

We look at any research as reflecting the state of affairs at the moment the data are captured. In the fast-moving MSP world, tools and technologies evolve rapidly, so any research report has a relatively short shelf life. For this, we plan to periodically update our research reports to keep them current.
